Volunteer Opportunities

Investing in Children relies on volunteers to make the work we do in our community possible. We have volunteer opportunities throughout London and the surrounding area that include weekly programs, special events and administrative tasks.

Volunteering with Investing in Children can help you develop job skills, make contacts in the community and gain valuable experience. Reference letters are available upon request. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

The Kids Power Conference
brings together 100 students from grades 6 and 7 who have been identified as leaders or potential leaders by their teachers and school. Through a series of workshops, the students will develop their leadership skills and learn techniques to bring back positive initiatives to their own schools and communities. This year’s theme is Inspiring Ideas Our presenters will show the students that all of us have the power within us to create change.  We can choose to be a leader, or a change-maker in our communities, schools or even the world through the choices we make and the goals we set and strive to achieve. The Kids Power Conference will be held at the Central Branch of the London Public Library from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Wednesday November 12th, 2025. The conference accepts 120 students who are divided into four groups with 25-30 students in each. We are looking for volunteers who will be group leaders. The leaders will go with the students to each workshop and will be in charge of making sure the students are respectful of the presenters and other students as well as making sure all are accounted for as you move from session to session. We would require volunteers to arrive at 8:30 and commit to staying until 3:30. We would also ask volunteers to provide a current vulnerable sectors check and to please bring a nut-free lunch.

Student Placements / Internships

Investing in Children supports education through our Student Field Placement Programs. Our organization has an excellent relationship with many programs through Western, Kings University College and Fanshawe College. Approximately 2000 hours of mentorship opportunity have been provided to students in the Faculties of Education, Schools of Social Work, Nutrition, Family and Media Studies, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Leadership, Public Relations and Corporate Communications programs and Recreation and Leisure studies. We value the level of collaboration that these students bring to our organization. For more information on a placement at Investing in Children, please contact tbolzon@investinginchildren.on.ca.

As a student teacher, working with Investing in Children was a very rich learning experience. I was very thankful to be given the opportunity to create and collaborate on projects that were to be used in the participating schools. Not only was working with Investing in Children a great learning experience; more importantly it was amazing to be a part of an organization that reaches and helps so many students across London. To see the impact that Investing in Children has on students across the city made me very proud to be associated with Investing in Children as a student on placement.
