Yesterday the children at the after school program had fun bracelet making! We explored many different ways of making bracelets but our favourite was learning how to use a kumihimo disk to create a bracelet.
Each of the children were able to get their own kumihimo disk to take home! We made the disk by printing a template that was 4” wide, glued them to cardboard and cut them out. Then our volunteer Pam helped set up each child’s disk with the colours of their choice. We even added arrows to help the children remember the motion they should be moving the string. It was simple to make and the children pick it up very quickly.
It was awesome to see all the children so engaged in the activity. They had a great time make bracelets for their families and friends.
